Communications Technology at York College is known for its Digital Video program, but we also have a Web/Graphic Design concentration that is very much alive. To see some of the web design work produced by our students last semester, check out the end of year post.
We are spotlighting a few of these students who have been keeping busy over the summer break.
Katrina Arias designed a website for the Creative Aging Mid-South non-profit organization, also for the Web Design 2 class. She received commendation and was mentioned in the organization’s newsletter, on the second page, Meryl’s Message. She still currently does work for the organization.
Leeza Walkes, created a website for The Monastery of St. Mary of Egypt non-profit organization last semester as part of her Web Design 2 class. She is now interning at Asia Society, an educational organization that promotes partnerships between the United States and Asia. She is working with Drupal to make front-end updates/adjustments to the Asia Society website. Her supervisor, Megan MacMurray, the Senior Technical Producer, has this to say about her:
Leeza has been great to work with. She has been organized, creative, and thorough in all tasks I’ve assigned her and everyone on my team likes having her around.
Shakira Dale took Web Design 1 last semester, and created a beautiful personal portfolio website to showcase her work; computer generated and hand illustrated. She is taking the skills she has learned to create web content for relatives and friends while anticipating an upcoming internship and Web Design 2 next semester.
Good stuff guys. We are proud of you. Keep up the good work.
Thanks to Najlah Hicks, our web design instructor, for inspiring our students!
